During the game, players create pots with their chips. Normally, a pot is created with the lowest denomination chip in the middle. However, some games use pots with two or more denomination chips.
The goal of poker is to have the highest hand possible. The best hand is a straight flush, which is 5 cards of the same suit. During a tie, the player with the highest card wins. A tie can also be broken by the high card.
Players have five cards, including one “wild” card. These cards can be of any suit. They can be used to replace a bad card.
When a player raises, he adds more chips. The player to the left of the person who raised must “call” the bet, if he hasn’t already. If he doesn’t, the player to the left of the person who called must “drop” the bet. This means he must put in the same number of chips as the player who passed.
When a player calls, he matches the bet. If he folds, he loses any chips he has in the pot.
A “wild card” is an additional card that can replace any other card. Generally, a wild card is used to help a player win a hand. These cards are known as jokers, and are usually in addition to the other cards in a pack.
Most games are played with a 52-card deck. In Texas Hold’Em, two decks of different back colours are normally used.
